#1667 of 2390 Trailer Brake Controller Installation for 2002 Grand Caravan
by ncpete
Jun 21, 2002 (8:23 pm)
My wife and I just took delivery of a brand new 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan with a trailer tow package. I need to install a brake controller for pulling our pop-up. I am having difficulty locating the 4 pin connector under the dash the controller hooks up to. Has anyone on this board done this to their GC yet? If so, please send detailed instrucions or pictures identifying the connector. Thanks in advance.
#1668 of 2390 Buying a dodge van

There is a 2001 dodge van, basic dodge, 2.4L engine with only 2700 miles on it. The history is clean, but it was sold as auction from NY after six months. They have trying to sell it for two month and now want 14,400 for it.
Is this a good deal? Or is it a deal too good to be true. I can live with it being basic, but are there other problems

Look around the True Market Value page and click on the Customized Appraisal button when you drill down to the Caravan. Looks like a good price depending on any options.
You may want to ask them to show you the service records too.

I was wondering what kind of mileage you guys get. I have a 2001 Voyager with the 3.3l V6 and get about 17 mpg in city driving with the air on. How does that compare?
#1671 of 2390 Power driver's seat in GC SE?

I am considering swapping the fixed seat base/platform for one with the power adjusters in a 2002 Grand Caravan SE. Since the seats are the same from the base up ("low-back" style with adjustable head rests) it looks like it is fairly simple to unbolt the seat from the base and swap it out. The manual seat back recliner parts will have to be removed also. The part that I'm concerned about now is the wiring harness. I don't know where to hook the harness to power in the Grand Caravan. I'm am trying to avoid purchasing the service manual but It may come to that! Thanks.
#1672 of 2390 Price for 2002 T&C LXi

Considering buying a new 02 T&C LXi with following options:
29u, traction control, side airbags, heated seats, 3.8 Liter engine, power liftgate, roof rack, 4 disc CD changer and full size spare
Price dealer giving me is $28,853. With all the rebates for vans these days is this a reasonable price or is it too high?? Any feedback from 01 or current 02 owners would be much appreciated.

Looking at the ads in the newspaper from last weekend, it seems a little high to me. Dealers like Carmax and Hayes Chrysler (Lawrenceville, GA--metro Atlanta) advertise LXi models with stickers around $33k for $25,995. You can buy a Limited with a sticker of $36,840 for $28,995 from Carmax as well. They are discounting about $5000 and then subtracting the $2500 cash back.

This month's Long-Term Road Test:2001 Dodge Grand Caravan is mostly about the trip to the dealer for the 30.000 mile service, but the first paragraph sums the ride up nicely (they don't say if the CEO is responsible for the dent, LOL).

#1675 of 2390 Uncomfortable driver's seat in DC minivans
by chryslervan1

My only complaint about our exceptionally good 1999 GC SE was the uncomfortable driver's seat. Initially, the 2001/2002 DC minivan driver's seat seemed to be more comfortable.
That illusion passed quickly after we purchased our new 2002 T&C eL and became even more obvious after driving my brother-in-law's 2001 Honda Odyssey EX where the seat was VERY comfortable.
Has anyone discovered a cure for the uncomfortable driver's seat in 1996-2002 DC minivans? It is a big disappointment since the driver's seat of our daughter's 1988 Voyager LE and the 1986 Caravan driver's seat owned by a different brother-in-law were VERY comfortable.
Why did DC replace the comfortable seat design of pre-1996 DC minivans with the current poorly designed driver's seat? Has anyone been able to replace the seat with one that is more comfortable such as one from a less expensive PT Cruiser?

Regarding the passenger captains chair seats, is there any year where these can slide together to almost form a bench seat? Can anyone tell me which makes/models do? I saw it somewhere (I am looking for a used minivan, not new). Thanks. (reason is, sometimes I want the kids together, sometimes apart).
