I've heard there's an aftermarket Alpine system that's very close to the Ody system in terms of integration/looks (the Honda NAV is built by Alpine). I've seen quotes of around $1,500 for that one. I recall someone on another site pricing all the parts, wiring harnesses, etc. to do the OEM install at somewhere around $4,000 (before labor if you can't do it yourself). Honda/dealers don't sell the factory nav as an add-on. But yes, anything is possible with deep enough pockets.

I BELIEVE THERE IS AN ALPINE NAVI THAT FITS IN THE DASH SINCE THE ONE ON THE ODYSSEY TOURING IS MADE BY ALPINE I SUJEST YOU DO A LITTLE SEARCH ON THIS TO MAKE SURE IT FITS.

The Pioneer is probably better than the OEM nav as well. My garmin beats the pants off the Honda system, but it's not as big of a screen and nicely integrated....I likely wouldn't buy the OEM nav again if I get a choice.

Save your money on the factory nav. I have a 2005 Odyssey and to upgrade it it is going to cost $265 form what Honda is telling me and I have to get it from Alpine. You are better off getting a Garmin or one of the other GPS systems. To upgrade those it is $70. Just my 2 cents.

European NAV Discs by vanguy11

I've seen some old discussion on this but haven't seen anything recently. I have an '09 Odyssey and am in the military. Just got to Germany and I'm trying to figure out how to get European disc(s) for the NAV system. Anybody got any ideas on this? Thanks.

I still have not solved the 09 Ody Navigation issue here in Germany.

The Honda dealer here tells me that the German Hondas have a completely different system but the maps are still from NAVTEQ. That said, I am waiting for a discounted 2009 upgrade disc to come out for the Euro market on ebay.de, ebay.co.uk, etc. As far as I know any disc older than 2009 will not work, but I don't want to waste 300 euros to find out.

The second problem.. once you HAVE the 2009 disc for the euro market, it is region-coded for europe. The Honda Navi DVD drive under the seat (and the RES system by the way) are US region-coded (Region 1). So, once the Euro Navi DVD is in my hand, the first thing I plan to do is copy it onto a DVD-R/+R, code it as region 1, and pop it into the drive in the car. Who knows what will happen then??

Let me know if anybody has found a solution to this!! I am getting tired of driving around Germany with my TomTom sitting right next to my Navi screen on clock mode.

07 Ody Navigation will not switch to night by rdskns82

My 07 Odyssey's Navigation system will not switch to the black screen at night when programmed on the Auto setting. I can change it manually, but that a pain.

Anyone experiencing the same issue, or have suggestions to remedy the problem?

Thanks
