I'm being transferred to Germany and am taking our 2007 w/Nav system with us. We're trying to get our hands on a DVD covering Europe. I know the current system only has the U.S. and most of Canada. Anyone know of where to get a Europe DVD? Anyone every hear of the Alpine system being compatible with another company that might have a Europe DVD?

Replying to: sandsmurphy (Jul 19, 2009 7:40 pm) I just shipped a 2009 Odyssey with Navigation (EX-L R&N) to Germany in June. I have never even driven it but I did mess with the Navi in the U.S. I have actually not yet seen a Navi Odyssey on any of the Army/AF bases here yet, though there are many of them driving around without Navi. It is not sold here, in fact I think the Odyssey is ONLY sold in NA. Also the AutoExchange dealer in Germany will not sell a Navi version even if you ask. Once it gets here I plan to go straight to the German Honda dealer (Händler) here and find out about a German Navi DVD or if it might work. If you find a solution first please post it. Thanks |

I have an 07 EX-L w/navi and the only place it's been confused is about 150 miles north of St. Paul, MN. It didn't recognize a couple of the secondary roads, wanting to take me miles out of the way to get where I wanted to go. Luckily I had a map (remember those?) otherwise would have tacked on an hour or so extra driving time. Other than Minnesota, it's been absolutely reliable all the way from Chicago down to the Keys, back up through the east coast states, across Canada from Niagra Falls and out to rural Kansas. Maybe I should just be happy that mine works (for the most part). Honda should have plugged it into the engine sensors to do mpg, though. That was the only disappointment on my EX-L.

I purchased the Honda over the Toyota primarily because of the navigation system! Can you believe that in a Toyota you can not input while driving above 10 miles per hour? My wife would not be able to do her job as navigator. A recent review in PC Magazine shows that in-car system require fewer repairs than the others. There have not been any new posts in a few weeks, and many negative posts. In the 3 months I have been playing with the Honda Navigation, I have read the manual cover to cover. So, I would like to hear some more tips about how to get the most out of the system that we are stuck with. I am a Magellan owner, sorry Garmin users, and love my Magellan. My Magellan always takes a long time to acquire satellites, and I have had to return it for replacement during the warranty. But, I love it, the database is great! The database in the Honda leaves a lot to be desired. And interestingly both get their information from Navteq! Go figure. So, I hope to generate some more discussion here, and see how we can help each other.
