I've never found an aftermarket option for the DVD. I've also never found enough improvements to the OEM DVD to warranty the cash to upgrade. I was checking out an '09 not too long ago and it was still missing some common POI's and also a major road that's been there for 6+ years.

Problems with 06 Odyssey NAV system by bhgedeon

System is repeatedly locking us out and requiring the entry of the 4 digit code in order to proceed. Battery not disconnected or in need of a charge. Anything else known to cause this? Thanks

Which OEM Nav to buy? by khanection

We just purchased an '08 EX-L w/o Navigation and would like to buy a Kenwood or Pioneer system for Nav / Bluetooth and backup camera all in one. My question: is there any navigation system that will fit into the dash and look like it was factory installed? i dont want a big screen on my dash. Please suggest.

"This "problem" has to do with the order in which you select different menus. Try this from the main nav menu: search places, shopping, sort by distance to travel or city vacinity, then input name. If you just search by name it pulls "Dillards" out of its arse."

I tried this with my 2005 Honda Odyssey and the "sort by distance" or similar option was not there at this point of the process. Anyone with a 2005 Odyssey get this to work? Does the newer DVD work like this?

Now if I already have a route in, I can do a search by vicinity, but just looking for a Blockbuster video is ridiculous.

Ok, I just walked through mine again to make sure. Mine is an '05 with the oldest nav disc possible.

Menu, Places, Shopping, All Shopping, Input Place Name, Distance to Travel:typed in Dillards

Gave me a Dillards starting with the nearest (about 70 miles....are they still in business??) and then on from there.

One thing I have found though is the names of places are all over the place. I've searched "outback" for outback steakhouse...and some were "out back steakhouse" and others were "the outback steakhouse". But yes the Ody nav is pretty lame either way. Blackberry helps me find things and then I can put in the address to Ody nav and away we go. Usually.

Europe? by sandsmurphy

I'm being transferred to Germany and am taking our 2007 w/Nav system with us. We're trying to get our hands on a DVD covering Europe. I know the current system only has the U.S. and most of Canada.

Anyone know of where to get a Europe DVD?
Anyone every hear of the Alpine system being compatible with another company that might have a Europe DVD?

Hello sandsmurphy,
I just shipped a 2009 Odyssey with Navigation (EX-L R&N) to Germany in June. I have never even driven it but I did mess with the Navi in the U.S. I have actually not yet seen a Navi Odyssey on any of the Army/AF bases here yet, though there are many of them driving around without Navi. It is not sold here, in fact I think the Odyssey is ONLY sold in NA. Also the AutoExchange dealer in Germany will not sell a Navi version even if you ask.

Once it gets here I plan to go straight to the German Honda dealer (Händler) here and find out about a German Navi DVD or if it might work. If you find a solution first please post it. Thanks
