Most manufactures inflate the mileage the vehicle gets.

I don't think they have any say in the mileage testing or release of the estimates...it's the EPA (gov't) that does the testing (which revised their tests for 2008).

Your absolutely correct on that. My mistake. I knew better.

2007 Sienna Limited.... 60,000 mile average.... by jimoase

Our mileage for 60,000 miles has averaged 24.2mpg. We have had several tanks while on the highway traveling at 65...70mph with average mileage of 26...27. In the winter around Mesa our mileage drops to around 21...22mpg.

Highway driving at 55mph will usually yield greater than 27mpg.

We travel a lot and often will have loads of 500...800 pounds in either luggage or people plus my wife and I.

Got 25.0 mpg going to the beach.

Got 26.6 mpg coming back.

Must have been an westward wind both times.

Speeds were 55-70 mph both times, A/C cranked, 4 people plus a dog and light luggage.

We rented a Toyota Sienna for our beach trip this past weekend. 6 people. light on luggage. But we kept the AC ON the entire trip except for the first 100 miles. Total of 580 miles with 29mpg average. I did the manual calculation, fill, reset, fill, calculate. I am impressed, I never thought it could be that good. I kept it within +5 of the limit most of the time, used cruise control as much as I could and basically tried all efficient driving practices.

Sweet, and I get about the same results on highway jaunts with the same strategies.

Good for you.

Where did you rent the Sienna? I saw some available in Florida but they ran $600 a week while other vans were half as much.

I'm just glad it doesn't cost double to purchase one!

I live in northern VA, rented it from the local enterprise for about 52.50 a day. I guess it would be around 300-350 for a week. I drive an Acura RSX type S otherwise and generally get 31mpg with slightly aggressive driving. My current tank, I am trying some hypermiling techniques and seems like it might be 35+. I will find out when I fill up.

That's cool.

I had no such luck in Florida, back in October.

We ended up renting an Accord.

What a sweetheart this van has been.
Still going...she's doing quite well mechanically, but has collected a few bruises. The roof liner is shot.
I decided early on never to bring this van to a dealer for service or recalls or anything as I had the feeling that they'd wreck it. It looks like it didn't hurt anyway!
