Get a manual - I have a Haynes - it takes all of hte guesswork out of finding and troubleshooting. I replaced my stock release for the radiator and replaced it with one that I could reach under and grab and twist for about $3 at NAPA. You might have to take the original in with you to match.

It is on the drivers side of the radiator on the bottom, but you have to turn the valve on the rear bottom over the drain hole counterclockwise while pulling out.

Instead of knocking a whole line of cars, try not to buy the first year or two of a new model - especially used! I thought everyone knew that. I love my van, and am the envy of my sisters who have an Odyssey and a Sienna. Talk about junk - plus they paid about double.

Tough luck, I am sorry to hear you had to learn that one the hard way.

Get a K&N or other washable air filter - you won't have to mess with the air filter as often and can increase your gas milage. I actually drilled holes in the front of the cold air box and got rid of the baffles inside. I also happened to put a larger throttle body on (among other things).

The kids get a kick out of the way it growls when I punch it!

I read where GM is recommending not to use washable/oiled air filters in some of their cars because the oil from the filters was fouling the MAF sensors...have you seen any issues on yours with the K&N...I'm assuming not as you're recommending it...

I like our Venture too (2000)...we didn't pay a lot for it and its held up pretty well...

I have a better idea - get your kids some book to read. Its much, much cheaper - especially in the long run.

I'm really not trying to be a smartass, I really mean it (I'm a middle school teacher).

If you still want to fix it, I would pull it and trace it all to its sources. It is possible to get moisture between the roof liner and the roof. It could also be as simple as a blown fuse or an overheated connection someplace. My stereo always runs hot by design, but it has never failed (the buttons are worn down to the white). It isn't hard to pull the stereo either, but make sure you disable the anti-theft first. A Haynes or Chilton's repair manual would probably be $12 well spent.

I actually pestered K&N until they made one for the vehicle. It has gotten the MAF dirty but never to failure. When I give it its annual cleaning, I also clean the platinum MAF wires. When the filter is oiled, only spay the oil on the outer side of the filter, that way any excess oil won't get globbed onto the MAF. A little won't hurt, since the MAF leads actually heat up and are designed to burn off dirt from the leads. My problems for a while was with the throttle body getting gunked up and sticking. It was resolved after putting in the K&N - go figure.

If I buy a new one, it will probably be one of the newer washable types without the oil.

Did the mobile DVD player take the place of the VCP (Video Cassette Player) and also use the overhead monitor or does it just plug in to the RCA Jacks? Also, can you tell me the make and model of the DVD player. Any help is truly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin

3400 ENGINES HAVE INTAKE GASKET PROBLEMS. I RUN A SALVAGE YARD IN MICHIGAN AND THERE IS A RECALL.IF YOU ARE REPLACING ANTIFREEZE,THEN IT IS GOING SOMEWHERE IT SHOULD NOT BE GOING.IF NO VISABLE LEAKS CHECK INTAKE 1ST THEN HEAD GASKETS
