Replying to: whizerbang (Dec 11, 2005 5:16 pm) I have a 2001 Venture that had the same spastic gas gauge problem. Before you go out and buy a new one, treat a tank of gas with Sea Foam. I did this, it cleared out the gunk and now my gauge works perfectly.

I guess that worries me and at the same time, I feel lucky. I have an '01 Venture, almost paid off, with 53k miles. This vehicle has been a dream machine. Other than new brake pads recently, I have had no problems and have not spent so much as a nickel for non-maintenance out of pocket repairs.   I don't have a particularly strong attachment to the Venture or to Chevrolet, I'm just posting my experience to let others know that not all Ventures are bad. I just hope my good fortune with this vehicle continues, as I'd like to keep it for a while once it's paid off.

Replying to: neveragain1 (Feb 05, 2006 6:55 pm) Just an update since the last one - GM did not come good for the fuel sending unit but since I took it to a new garage, it cost only $500. Re-routed wires, sprayed water on coil, coil wire, spark plug wires, etc and nothing acted strange.Hoped problem was solved. Nope. Yesterday it nearly stalled going up a hill near our house.Luckily got it home before it quit - turned off the motor and a sulphur smell came into the van. I've smelled this once before. Today, again, drives good and then going up a hill, it starts bucking and nearly stalling. Put it into a lower gear and nothing improved. Now back at the garage again.    Has anyone else had this problem? I really could use your help on it - we are heading south with it or renting if we have to, by the end of the week! HELP!!

I bought a identical remote, but no luck with the programming. The old one still works, I just want a 2nd one. I tried following the programming instructions on the 1st, but it won't work! grrrrrrrrrr.......

I have a 2000 Venture with 212k miles. Lately the fuel milage has been down, and I thought the vehicle was dying on me. I was experiencing misfires, knocks, bad fuel economy, and poor performance. The misfires also gave emissions, fuel, and spark error codes.   The fix? There is a 5/8 inch hose that runs from the intake manifold to the firewall under the master cylinder. Mine was loose, which means that it was sucking air and causing misfires the same way that an intake leak would. I fixed it with hose clamps at each end, though neither end looked loose or damaged (the hose was hard from age and heat). For the record, there is no clamp at the firewall, and the one at the intake was not holding tight. The hose is the assist for the brakes, and my brakes behave a little better now as well.   Gas milage is way up and runs like new - I recommend everyone spring $.30 and take the 10 min to fix or do to prevent this from happening in the future!

Replying to: neoflee (Feb 04, 2006 12:03 am) Get a K&N filter - it costs a little more, but better milage and the fact that it is washable makes it more cost effective. The filter does not need to be changed nearly as often and works when it is dirty, which means messing with that PIA intake hose less! Be sure to CAREFULLY clean your MAF sensor while you have it all apart.

this comes on intermittently especially when its very cold. I assume if its on, it won't work as opposed to it may go off in my face, is that a correct assumption? as its a safety thing, is this covered by some warranty beyond the factory one?
