Re: Honda Pilot EX-L 2005-Leased: Did I do okay? by Car_man HOST
Mar 28, 2005 (4:47 pm)
Welcome zackymax. While Honda's advertised lease payment on the 2005 Pilot is on an EX model without leather, its special lease program is available on all Pilot models. The same level of lease support is available on the EX with leather, though the MSRP, selling price, and residual values for it may be a little different. The special lease program on this truck would be exactly the same, regardless of what dealer you go to. The only factor that will vary from dealer to dealer is the selling price for the truck.

For answers to your specific questions about how to calculate lease payments, check out the following article that is available here at Edmunds.com: Calculate Your Own Lease Payment.

You can figure out exactly what your finance payment would have been if you had financed your truck at 2.9% by plugging the appropriate numbers into the following calculator: Edmunds.com Basic Loan Calculator.

Car Man,

I need to know if I got a good deal. I feel like I didnt so that usually means I didnt. I was negotiating for my mom. Here is what we got
Saturn Ion 1
Base 12410
dfc 565
Air 960
CD 290
= 14255
39 month lease, 39000 miles 0 down. The finance guy said the residual is 67 and the money factor is 26.

Gross Cap Cost 14919
cap cost reduct 44.03
Residual value 9815

Even though it was advvertised as 139 a month, they now said it was 142.99 + tax title lic. He said it would be in a range of 151-161 a month. When I asked for an exact amount, he said he couldnt do that because the car wasnt in inventory yet. Is this BS? Is that price going to be based on credit report and they just didnt want to run it tonight?

What couldve I negotiated or where could the price have been different? Please offer all senerios or opinions possible.

Thanks

It looks like the EX special is 0.00154 and 63% and you posted the EX-L is also 0.00154 but 58%

Do you know is the Pilot LX 36/36k is also 0.00154? What is the residual on the Pilot LX on this special?

Thanks!
Dennis

Lease from dealer in a different state? by dwynne
Mar 28, 2005 (8:29 pm)
Hey car_man,

Any REAL resson why a dealer in one state would not lease a car to someone in another state?

I have leased from dealers in several states before without a problem, but a Honda dealer is telling me that he can't lease me a car since I am in the "Wrong" state.

Sounds like he just does not want to fool with the extra work to me....

Thanks,
Dennis

Acquisition fee markup on 330Cic.. by love330conv
Mar 29, 2005 (1:55 am)
My dealer is asking for $200 more than the minimum acquisition fee ($625) for lease of 2005 330Cic.

Is this normal or he's ripping me off?

Thanks.

Re: 2005 Subaru Legacy GT by Car_man HOST
Mar 29, 2005 (4:07 am)
Hi Jason. The Subaru Legacy is a very nice car, though the new Subarus are getting pretty expensive. I would be more than happy to give you an idea of what Subaru's current lease program is like on the 2005 Legacy GT right now, but in order for me to do so I need you to tell me how long you want to lease it for and how many miles per year you need to be able to drive it.

Re: Potentially dumb lease question by Car_man HOST
Mar 29, 2005 (4:11 am)
That's not a dumb question at all, Mark. Even though manufacturers often include sample lease payments that require a down payment of several thousand dollars, consumers are free to lease any vehicle they want without making any sort of capitalized cost reduction. Of course, the monthly lease payment for a vehicle that was advertised with a down payment will be higher for a zero down lease unless you negotiate a significantly lower selling price. Typically, at lease signing, consumers have to pay their vehicle's first month's payment, a security deposit equivalent to that payment rounded up to the nearest $25 or $50 increment, the acquisition fee of the bank that they are leasing through (which is usually a little over $500), and any required state taxes, license, and title fees.

Re: Sales Tax if purchase at lease end by Car_man HOST
Mar 29, 2005 (4:15 am)
That is a very good question, phatjay27. I do not personally know how sales tax would be calculated in Illinois in this situation, but you may be able to find an answer to your question by visiting one of the following sites: CyberDrive Illinois or Illinois Department of Revenue.
