Cheapest gas I can find in San Diego is $2.73 at Costco. Most are $2.79 - $2.89 for RUG. Diesel is mostly $2.39 - $2.49. Guys that bought the Jetta TDIs below invoice when diesel was high are laughing all the way to the bank.

Gary says, "Guys that bought the Jetta TDIs below invoice when diesel was high are laughing all the way to the bank."

OK, that's the second time you said that. We get it.

Guys like me who bought a hybrid 5+ years ago have been laughing the whole time - even all those months when diesel was FAR higher than gasoline.

But just yesterday someone posted that diesel and gas were priced the SAME in his city.

So they might be laughing all the way to the bank, but disappointed in their balance when they get there.

Well, the know it alls who criticized Ford for switching truck plants to small cars will now shut up. And same ones who say 'Americans only want trucks'.

This helps confused consumers a little bit.

Supply and demand, of course!

Of course, oil is becoming ripe for speculation again as some fear the results of printing so much wallpaper fiat greenbacks. Safehaven and all that, but usage won't come into play.

consumer reports article: the person writing says oil supply is low. That's the opposite of what I've heard real experts in the field say. They say the reserves of fuel and oil are higher than they've been for a while because of lower demand.

Just another CR puff piece.

Relative bargain -- $2.38 for RUG at Hess. Prices overall have been stable for a week or so.

Gas Buddy shows Virginia and most of the South in the "green zone." OTOH, the Midwest is getting hammered, as is NY and CA (as usual). NJ is a safe haven, as always.

Dayton was bumped two weeks in a row to $2.69 and then $2.89. Price started easing back down from $2.89 to $2.79 and a gas war area to $2.65.

Your $2.38 is, indeed, a bargain.
