Has anyone experienced an uptick in prices over the last week or so? Our petrol has jumped up 20 ~ 35 cents since Monday. Prices that were $2.09 ~ $2.13 are now sitting at $2.38 ~ $2.49 this morning. Pre-Mother's Day increase? Is it because the weather has been in the 60s for more than 2 days in a row and the sun came out on Monday?

Days are longer; people tend to drive more. memorial Day is around the corner which represents the unofficial start to summer. Economy got a boost the past few days. Pick one. Just remember it is not because demand has gone up and we are running out of oil.

Maybe we can keep blaming Bush and Cheney with using their friends to keep the prices up? Prices here jumped on Tuesday by 35 cents in some areas. They'll kept doing that even though it starts dropping back slowly. It's heating the water for the frogs slowly so they don't jump out of the pot. |

Neither one is smart enough to manipulate the system without leaving a trail. After 9/11 and then Katrina, people realized they could manipulate oil prices and make money. Part of the greed that consumed our society. No reason oil should ever have gotten over $75 a barrel let alone get close to $150. The excuses they were using were getting weaker and weaker each year. Gas in south central PA has been holding at $2.05 - $2.09 for quite while now.

Replying to: pf_flyer (May 07, 2009 12:30 pm) $2.31 midgrade $2.41 for Preminger And here's a switch: $2.39 for diesel. First time in a couple of years I've seen it cheaper than any grade of gas. |

Passed a BP this morning, sitting at $2.60 for 87 octane. I'm thinking they're trying to crack $3 by Memorial Day. |

was for $2.60 at the usual Jewel. Was in the city over the weekend and petrol prices were averaging $2.66 for 87 octane, slightly higher downtown. At this point I would be surprised if we don't hit $3 by Memorial Day weekend. |

My Costco is still holding at $2.29 for the last couple weeks. We were in North County yesterday and many stations were at $2.69 for RUG. Generally diesel was less than regular. With the stations in East County holding D2 at about $2.21 - $2.27. It would be good to see oil stabilize about $60 per barrel. Not sure if that is possible. I don't think we will see the run-up of last year. All the producers should be able to make ends meet with the current price. Not a lot of exploration at that price. |
