We wet up here at the Jersey Shore - anywhere from a nickle to a dime. The local Sunoco is now $1.45 for regular.

We've been at $1.69 here for almost a month now. These lower prices haven't manged to get over the ridges into Happy Valley

$1.75

What's curious is that unleaded futures for Jan delivery were way lower than the futures are now. Some PROFIT is being made for sure.

Dayton got as low as probably $1.55 as a median or mean while a few were at $1.38 IIRC.

We got a jump to $1.85, and then dropped to $1.79 and lower, then a jump in a few days to $1.89, and now a jump to $1.99 for most stations. Oddly, most stations seem to have chosen $1.99 as their new price from Dayton to Cincinnati with only a few lower. The oil companies have been successful in raising the price form $1.49 or $1.55 to $1.99 in a matter of 7 days or so.

Indeed large profits are being made in the earlier slow downward move despite oil's have dropped rapidly and now with rapid up moves ("restoration" according to Speedway subsidiary representative a couple years back) the profits are back. Profits are probably greater than when prices were at $3.75.

It's speculators who are trying to make money with all the turmoil in the Middle East.

Filled the LS400 this morning at Costco. Premium is right at $2. RUG $1.79. Diesel down the street still at $2.19. That is the closest I have seen for a long time.

Oil took biggest hit this morning in 7 years. Lost about $6 per barrel. So maybe the gas prices will head back down.

We've had a similar jump here. I was out last Wednesday and was near a quarter-tank (my usual point in filling-up) so decided to fill-up, thinking the prices were going to raise a little for New Year's Eve / Day. That day regular was selling for $1.62. Prices held steady but got a surprise Monday when prices were $1.71 ~ 1.79, then jumped again by Tuesday to $1.85 ~ $1.89, with yesterday seeing another jump to $1.94 ~ $1.99. A nice 30 to 40 cent jump in a week.

Still better than the $3.00+ I was paying this time last year and the $4.00+ over the spring, summer and early fall. But it kind of burns that you know this is due to taking advantage of the strife in the Middle East, which was going on anyway, the "restoration" and dead-cat bounce oil had late last week / early this week. This despite the glut of oil and gas supplies. But with the supposed cease-fire and talks starting last night I wonder if the prices are going to move down a bit.

Sheesh, just 'cause a couple of idiots are lobbing rockets at each other. I didn't know Israel-Palestine was a major oil exporting nation.

After hitting a low of $1.46, prices are up to $1.59 and higher for RUG. The BP I've been using of late has it at $1.60. Not too bad compared to what some of you are reporting from other areas of the country.
