Haven't been out yet today (darn changed habits) but I'm guessing our local price is still holding at $2.07 because it's a Penn State football weekend. In the past we've been known to see slight bumps in the price on these weekends. Couldn't be that the influx of 100,000 people and their vehicles has anything to do with that could it?

Amazing, so much so that I looked at my spreadsheets going back to Feb. 2004, and the lowest I paid was $1.50 on 3/1/04.

That sounds about right, for these parts too. I remember the summer of 2004, gas shot up to over $2.00 per gallon in these parts, and as I recall it didn't really come down a whole lot that fall/winter. Going through my paper records, I did see around $1.89 back in May 2005, and that was the last time it was below $2.00...until this week.

Slowly but surely, I've been trying to enter my Intrepid's fuel history onto an Excel spreadsheet. So far I've only gone backwards through to late 2006. I know those early years are going to be tedious, especially back when I used to deliver pizzas and sometimes I'd fill up every other day.

I remember the first time I filled that car up, in November 1999, it was around $1.39 per gallon. And briefly in late 2001/early 2002 it dipped below $1.00

Just topped the Sequoia at Costco. $1.95 per gallon. Then driving home I passed an indy selling gas for $1.84. How can that be with out high CA taxes? Diesel is not keeping pace. Most places selling D2 at $2.49 with a few at $2.43. That is the biggest gap percentage wise we have had.

Yeah, living at the shore with our main drag being the only way to hit 18 miles of beach I've seen that selective price adjustment in action. not this time of year though. to everything there is a season....

I had a nice moment at lunch. I had let the car get down to where the fuel light lit up. The only place I could hit on lunch hour and still have lunch is that one station between my home and work. It was $1.89. I thought that was so last week and only put $10 worth in!

Yes... Thanksgiving break is in there too. But the downward pressure must really be building as it dropped to $2.03 late this afternoon!

Winchester, Va. gas prices as of this morning are at $1.72 along the I-81 corridor. Martinsburg, WV. is still up around the $1.99 mark so it may be worth it to make the 20 minute trip south to Va. for the cheaper gas. We have been doing our regular food shopping there for awhile to take advantage of the cheaper gas prices.

Wish we had the $1.45 gas here. I remember in 1999 gas was at $.89 at Liberty and Marathon stations around the Steubenville, OH--Weirton, WV border. Will we ever get that low again???

The dollar amount was $23, less than the 27 gallon tank size. I had a little over a quarter tank to start.

Last time gas was $1.59, I bought a used car that got 27.5 mpg commuting and drove it 30,000 miles in the first year. When I bought my 18 mpg hwy truck in June 2001, gas was $1.30. It went to $2.00 by just after 9-11, ending an era where trucks were bought for having very low depreciation when used for commuting. The truck still only has 25000 miles on it. It's lack of use by me mirrors America's lack of hunger for new ones since 9-11.

Funny thing is 9-11 helped real estate tremendously. People stormed out of stocks and bought up sunbelt real estate.

Surrendering gains in last 2 years:
real estate
gas
wall streel

not surrendering:
precious metals
