News story:

Drop almost over?

Pump prices should hover in the $2 range for several months, falling as low as $1.75 in some markets, says Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst for OPIS. But don't expect a sustained period of low prices reminiscent of the 1990s, he says. Although demand is weak, it's expected to pick up during next summer's driving season, and oil supplies are likely to remain tight for years.

Kloza expects gas prices to jump about 75 cents in spring 2009, though he's not predicting a return of $4 gasoline soon. "I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of prices north of $3" in six months, he says.

Don't trade that Sentra in for a Murano just yet................

Well, just a few short months ago the experts were telling us there was no near term relief in sight for the upward movement of gas prices too.

I'm constantly amazed at how often the experts are surprised.

The Niagara routine reportedly dates back to the burlesque days - the Stooges (and sometimes Bud & Lou or Lucy or Dick van Dyke) get the creation nod since they managed to get it on film, but none of them were the first to do the skit.

You can look it up, but this guy already did.

Gas prices were unchanged overnight here.

Under two bucks... by andre1969

is spreading rampant through Maryland. I was out and about yesterday, and saw a member price of $1.99 at the BJ's in Bowie. $1.98 at the Costco in Arundel Mills (I think that area's called Hanover). And just south of Baltimore, I saw a few $1.99's at regular gas stations.

Unfortunately, I wasn't driving, otherwise I would've filled up! Closer to home, the two gas stations between home and work are holding out at $2.25 at Citgo, $2.36 at Shell.

As for that "Slowly I turn", bit, wasn't it Beavis and Butthead?

Just in time to go visit Grandma. That is something to be thankful for. Last year at this time in San Diego our gas was a dollar more per gallon than this year. I filled up on 11/10/07 and paid $3.24 per gallon. Gas today is down to $2.22 per gallon.

Diesel seems to be holding at $2.69 per gallon.

Beavis too? lol, Lars really got us going with Slowly I turn.

I have a friend from Seattle visiting, and he was bragging on his diesel truck's mpg last night. I, ahem, asked him what the price differential was on diesel was over there (still a buck).

Then I asked him how his asthma was doing. Slowly I turn....
