I'd like to hear what kind of miles people are driving before changing their disc pads? I have a 2003 SLEV6 and have 28k miles on it. In all my years of driving I don't recall EVER getting this many miles without changing the pads. I have to admit though...1) I am hard on brakes, I have moved out of the city and now do much more highway driving. In any event, I already purchased the pads from Toyota and intend to replace them at the 30k point. i realize that "your mileage may vary", but I am still curious as to how many miles others are getting. Thanks in advance !

Replying to: speedracer (Jun 23, 2004 8:21 pm) I have typically driven American autos my whole life, with the exception of a Honda Prelude once. I don't EVER recall getting anything near 30k miles on brake pads. Is there really that much of a difference with city driving? |

Yes, there is a HUGE difference on brake wear in terms of city driving versus highway. I have been driving in/outside of Philadelphia for about 20 years, to give you an experience base. My 2000 SE V-6 (manual tranny) has about 70K miles, and the original pads. I think there was a long ago discussion in this forum (I'm talking years back) regarding the superiority of Toyota brake pads versus generic brand pads when it comes time to replace them... speedracer - wow! 149K miles! way to go!

..well done, SpeedR.... 149k reflects good driving habits: you are "out front" with your vision sweep. My '89 Supra Turbo had just My '00 SE-V6 (MT) currently has 60k on orig pads... Incidentally...for my 60k service - FWIW - I laid out 157 to replace PPlugs, 40 for oil/filter + new air filter. My source indicated that the Toyota Red coolant is really extended life and good for 100k..........appreciate any feedback...ez |

Well, seeing as how you posted this in the Toyota section... of course everyone is going to tell you to get the Solara. I too, bounced between the Accord and the Solara. The Accord just didn't give me the styling that I was looking for (both inside and out). Look around at all the features offered in 2004/2005 vehicles. Honda's Accord seems to be about a year or two outdated. I'm sure they'll both hold their value very well and reliability won't be an issue either. It really all comes down to personal opinion. The six versus four cylinders will probably end up being your biggest debate. Good Luck! |

What do the gauges look like in the SE V6 with and without the sport package. I noticed that during the day, the SPORTS gauges were Black on black, and the SE V6 WITHOUT sPort package was black on white....What do these look like at night? how do they light up? Its weird...the gauges look better during the day without the package! |
