You are in the Acura CL
What is this discussion about?
Acura CL, Coupe
#524 of 1965 Think I bought the wrong car
Jul 24, 2001 (8:09 pm)
I just bought a 2001 Accord-EX-V6, beautiful car, fully loaded, but now I'm thinking I may have bought too fast. I didn't even look at Acura's, because I thought they would be out of my price range, but now I see that there is only a few thousand dollars difference between the top-of-the-line Accord Coupe and the Acura CL. Bummer.
I guess I'll wait until the redesigned Acura CL is introduced (does anyone know what year that will be?). In the meantime, I'll enjoy my Honda as best I can and try not to look too longingly at the gorgeous Acuras I see driving by.
P.S. If anyone else has had an experience like this, what did you do?
#525 of 1965 Brake light is on?
Jul 25, 2001 (3:10 am)
My 98 CL with 57K miles has developed a problem
which disappoints me.The brake light is on but the fluid level is fine.At first it was
intermitent now it is on constant.Guess I'll have
to take it in to the dealer. So much for trouble free Acuras.Anybody else had this problem?

don't feel bad. There are people who didn't think there would be a TL type S and they either missed the boat or trade in the premium model. There are those who would give an arm for a manual transmission and they will take a hit if and when the 6-speed transmission comes out. Yeah, I guess if you are happy with the Accord and the service then stick with it until you feel that you can afford a new ride.

some troubleshooting questions.
The fluid level might look ok, but does your brake pedal feels lighter in certain situation? It might be an internal leak. No such thing as a completely trouble free car, is there? How about your brake pads? Have they been replaced recently?
#528 of 1965 Lease on 2001 CL
Jul 25, 2001 (12:29 pm)
Is the leasing offer put out by Honda Finance on the CL a good deal? It hurts my brain to think about all the factors?

Don't feel bad. The Accord V6 coupe is one fine car. Actually there are times when I wondered if I should have saved a few thousand dollars and gone for the Accord instead of the CL-S. The extra power and features of the CL-S is nice, but I mean, how often does one really fully utilize all of that?
#530 of 1965 Thinking of purchasing CL- Type S
Jul 26, 2001 (1:08 pm)
I've been shopping around for the CL- Type S. And the cheapest offer I received so far was $28,200 after destination charge. I am in NYC. I was wondering if anyone found a better price (within the tri-state area) and if so, with which dealer? Thanks a bunch.
#531 of 1965 More of brake light on!
Jul 26, 2001 (6:30 pm)
Took my 98 CL in to dealer and they confirmed my suspicions. The switch in the brake fluid reservoir
is bad. Of course it wasn't in stock.Seems like
all the Honda products I have owned over the years
developed electrical problems after 60k miles.
Maybe that's normal for all cars. The plus side
is I got to drive my wife's 2001 TL because she
took the CL in for service. What a difference
75 horses make.

glad you got that issue fixed. I had something like that happened with my old Integra - too much hard braking, I think I had a minor electrical problem with that Integra as well.
You have a four cylinder CL, right?

Thanks for the words of encouragement. My Accord is nice, but those CL's are absolutely beautiful. Oh well, live and learn...
